The Clean Air Foundation is proud to be working with Kitchener Wilmot Hydro to deliver the Cool Shops program in Kitchener, Ontario

Goals:

• Visit 750 businesses
• Audit 750 businesses
• Distribute 1,500 CFLs
• Distribute 750 LED exit sign bulbs
• Encourage the purchase of 192 CFLs
• Encourage the purchase of 83 PAR / BR CFLs
• Yield peak demand reduction of 83 kW

Results:

• Over 1,200 businesses visited
• 750 energy audits completed
• 1,270 CFLs distributed
• 1,268 LED exit sign bulbs distributed
• 2,485 CFLs purchased by small businesses
• 469 PAR / BR CFLs purchased by small businesses
• 198 kW of peak demand reduction
• Over four areas of Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro territory were visited including: Baden, New Hamburg, Petersburg, St. Gatha and Wilmot

The Working Centre has taken significant steps towards energy efficiency by changing 200 older T12 fluorescent tube lights to newer, more efficient T8 lighting. Old lighting fixtures were recycled, windows are being opened to let natural light in to reduce lighting costs, and a programmable thermostats has been installed. These changes have reduced The Working Centre’s energy bills by over 30%!
