The Kingsmill’s department store is a historic landmark in the City of London. Originally established in 1865 by Thomas Frazer Kingsmill, this specialty home decor and fashion department store has continually evolved over the years to keep up with available energy saving technologies.
Mr. Kingsmill took a large step towards energy efficiency when he changed all his existing T12 fluorescent tube lights to more efficient T8 lighting in order to reduce the store’s utility costs and overall aesthetic appearance. 608 T12s were switched to T8s, saving an average of $2,750 per year on his hydro bill.
In conjunction with the Clean Air Foundation’s Cool Shops program, Kingsmill’s 2005 summer plans are to retrofit his existing halogen track lighting to energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs which will increase his energy savings even more! |
