Assisting Small Business to Save Energy and Money
The Clean Air Foundation has been providing outreach to small businesses about energy conservation through its Cool Shops program.
We have partnered with Access Riverdale Community Loan Fund to provide financial assistance to those businesses that are interested in taking that extra step and retrofit their businesses to be more energy efficient. The Access Riverdale Community Loan Fund helps small and emerging businesses by providing them with loans of up to $5,000.
How does it work?
- Clean Air Foundation’s Cool Shops team conducts a free energy audit focusing on lighting and makes recommendations for an energy efficient retrofit
- An appointment is booked with our Alternative Electric contractor to do a formal quote for the job
- Business owner fills out Access Riverdale loan application form
- Access reviews the loan and Alterna Savings will conduct a personal and business name credit check
- Once approved, an account is opened with Alterna and the business is provided with the loan funds (guaranteed by Access Riverdale)
- Once approved, Clean Air Foundation books the electricians time for the retrofit (no more than 1 week after receipt of loan funds)
- Clean Air Foundation track energy savings through hydro bill analysis over 1 year
What are the benefits?
- Product discounts
- Free local recognition in media
- Electrician fee discount
- Simple and turnkey with Cool Shops facilitating logistics
- Payback generally less than 2 years
