Energy Efficiency Study of Ontario Convenience Stores
The Ontario Convenience Stores Association (OCSA) has partnered with the Clean Air Foundation to do an energy efficiency study of Ontario’s convenience stores.
With the help of 10 convenience stores, as case studies, we want to gain more information about the energy needs of this sector. This will help us develop incentive programs that will help small business owners make affordable energy efficient retrofits to save money and improve their bottom line.
What's the goal?
The goal of the study is to develop a strategy and program for energy efficiency within Ontario’s convenience store sector. With technology research, and thorough case study assessments we will develop a program plan that we will propose to the Ontario Government. We want to secure funds to make it easier for convenience stores to undergo necessary retrofits/upgrades and this will help business owners to save energy, save money and improve their bottom line.
How does it work?
- Clean Air Foundation reps will come into your business to do a free energy audit and an assessment of your current electricity consuming technologies.
- With this information we are hoping to provide you with recommendations on ways you can reduce your energy consumption and save on your electricity bills by retrofitting to more energy efficient technologies.
- We will then facilitate the retrofit with the assistance of certified contractors and measure your energy savings by analyzing your utility bills.
Candidates
- We are looking for businesses that are currently contemplating doing energy efficient retrofits
- They will be highlighted as leaders in energy efficiency among all convenience stores across Ontario and should be interested in energy conservation.
How do you benefit?
- The Ontario Power Authority will have a media event to highlight the first participating convenience store that has retrofitted their business with new energy efficient technologies.
- Subsequent stores to participate will also be highlighted. The Clean Air Foundation will do a press release and the OCSA will have an article published in the YCM magazine, their newsletter and Convenience News paper, to feature what your business has changed, highlight how it has impacted your bottom line, and emphasize your leadership in the community for wanting to conserve energy
