Ontario residents retire record number of air conditioners
In just three weekends in 2006, people in several communities across Ontario turned in almost 15,000 old room air conditioners to participating retailers, and received a $25 gift card for their old unit. This represents a reduction of about 17 megawatts of peak demand energy – enough electricity to power almost 5,000 homes. That's also a savings of over 4,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
Thank you, Ontario!
