The 2009 Mow Down Pollution event is running from April 23 to May 3 at all Home Depot locations!

Thanks to everyone who participated last year. We successfully retired 8,825 old gas powered mowers and trimmers! That is a reduction in over 342.73 tonnes of greenhouse gas and smog forming emissions! Congratulations!

• Did you know? A standard gas mower can emit the same amount of common air pollutants in one hour as driving a new car for almost 500 km!
• According to Statistics Canada, gas-powered lawn equipment releases about 80,000 tonnes of emissions in Canada every year, using 151 million litres of gas.
• Since Mow Down Pollution’s inception in 2001, 26,800 gas lawnmowers and trimmers have been retired and permanently recycled, resulting in the reduction of 748 tonnes of greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions.
