Mow Down Pollution – 2004 Results |

The 2004 Mow Down Pollution program ran from April 19th to May 2nd at all 102 Home Depot stores across Canada. This was the second national program and proved a success once again: retiring 1961 old polluting gas mowers and trimmers. Nearly 90% of participating Canadians took advantage of the instant rebates and switched to a cleaner way of cutting their lawn. The reclaimed mowers were recycled for their component metals and the oil and gas was removed and processed. As a result of the 2004 program, it is estimated that HC was reduced by 7.2 tonnes, CO was reduced 38.9 tonnes, NOx was reduced 0.06 tonnes, and PM was reduced by 0.1 tonnes. The USEPA NON-ROAD modeling software has been used for the past 2 years to make the emission reduction estimations. |
